Naperville is one of Chicago’s best suburbs, and with that comes some fantastic restaurants.  Naperville dining features a variety of cuisine, from Spanish appetizers to Irish bars, as well as Mexican food and seafood. To start, here are five restaurants we love in Naperville.

Mesón Sabika

1025 Aurora Ave.

630-983-3000

For some of the best Spanish tapas you can find, Meson Sabika is close to downtown Naperville. Check out the unique decor in this historic house. Weekends offer a delicious brunch, and normally they have a buffet with more delicious choices.

Patatas Bravas is one of their most popular items – potatoes in a delectable spiced tomato sauce.

Wild Rice Sushi & Grill

614 E Ogden Ave.

630-717-1199

On the northern side of Naperville is this hole-in-the-wall restaurant serving some of the best sushi in the area. Creative rolls and classics make for a delicious exploration of sushi and sashimi. They even have a sushi pizza.

For a unique experience, try the signature rolls such as the Great Naperville Roll.

Jackson Avenue Pub

7 Jackson Ave.

630-904-9400

If you are seeking a fantastic burger and one of the best in  Naperville, look no further than Jackson Avenue Pub. With 18 different burgers, the Jackson Avenue menu is extensive.

Bulleit Bourbon honey sauce mixes well with swiss cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, on the Bulleit Burger, or try freshly sliced pear on the Drunken Pear Burger.

Everdine’s Grilled Cheese Co.

24 W Jefferson Ave.

630-544-6626

If cheese is what really melts your tastebuds, check out Everdine’s in downtown Naperville.

This cheesy haven has some of the best sandwiches, classic grilled cheese, and specialty grilled cheeses you can find in the Chicago area.

Try them with ham and grilled pineapple, chicken, or even sloppy joe. Bacon and tomato is one of their best combos.

Fat Rosie’s

47 E Chicago Ave.

630-328-0060

This mouth-watering local Mexican restaurant serves traditional Mexican food right here in Naperville, becoming a local favorite with chicken mole, Camarones al Modo de Ajo, and chihuahua cheese dip. The talking donkey greets you from behind the bar and sings happy birthday to anyone who stops by on their special day.

These are just a few of the restaurants Naperville has to offer, so be sure to explore next time you are looking for a night out on the town.

What’s your favorite Naperville restaurant? Tell us in the comments!

The days are growing shorter, the weather is chilly, and Starbucks is introducing pumpkin spice lattes.

Yes, autumn is here, which means it's time to decorate your home with autumnal elements (fancy eh?). Even if your apartment does not have much internal space, you may nevertheless provide warmth for the fall.

Here are just a few ideas on how to decorate your home with the coziest season of the year's looks and scents.

Oh my – throws, pillows, and blankets.

Put some lovely wraps and cozy blankets out on display to accomplish two goals at once (being warm and decorating for fall). Nothing compares to the comfort of a warm, earth-toned blanket on a relaxing day. Choose traditional patterns like plaid and fabrics like chunky cable knit to give your home a "autumn atmosphere." This one from Pier One Imports, this cable knit throw from Wayfair, or this reasonably priced pumpkin throw cushion are three that we particularly adore.

Bring out them candles

You'll need a bit extra light in your home as the days become shorter to improve your mood. Get your votives, tea lights, and rustic lanterns ready! Invest in some fall-scented candles to transform your flat into a cozy retreat for the season. (Just remember to blow them out before you leave or turn in for the night!)

Pumpkins!

Such a sweet way to welcome fall into your house is to use small pumpkins as décor! Any grocery shop in the United States, including Trader Joe's (here in California), sells items in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes.

Build a Wreath

A vibrant fall wreath may be used to adorn doorways, windows, or even an empty area over your stove or mantel. You may make one yourself for a reasonable price or purchase one for a reasonable price. To add pops of orange, red, yellow, and brown, you can also use corn cobs, tiny pumpkins, zucchini, berry garlands, or fall flowers. Find some wreath inspiration here.

Fruit Garland

Run a lovely berry garland down the wood of any banisters or mantles you may have to create the ideal autumnal statement.

Make a fall-themed table centerpiece.

Create a DIY centerpiece to decorate your table with seasonal flowers, pumpkins, leaves, pine cones, and of course, candles. All you really need to make something that looks festive at every meal is a few autumnal accents, a tabletop, and your creativity. Alternately, arrange various-sized autumnal vegetables, gourds, pumpkins, etc. on the dining room table to create a (cheap) centerpiece.

Autumn Flowers

Use dahlias, ranunculus, and gathered yard trimmings, including leaves and branches. Then, depending on the size of your arrangement, put them in a straightforward vase or a rustic pot to create a design that would look great on your mantel.

Do you have more fall decorating tips or ways to show your fall colors? Tell us in the comments!

5 of the Best Over the Weekend Getaways in Illinois

Despite the editorial independence of our research, we could get paid if someone makes a purchase after clicking one of our links.
The Land of Lincoln is a fantastic destination for a family-friendly, budget-friendly weekend trip. In terms of entertainment, cultural experiences, and recreational opportunities, Illinois has a lot to offer both adults and children, whether you're exploring the attractions in Chicago or the central or southern regions of the state. Here are our best suggestions for short trips to Illinois that will allow you to experience the Midwest.

Galena

For couples and families with children looking for a weekend getaway in Illinois, Galena is a great option. There are many things to do in the town, from charming mom-and-pop stores to historical locations like the residence of President Ulysses S. Grant. Stay in one of Galena's charming inns or B&Bs for a memorable and peaceful experience. The Midwest Garlic Fest and the Great Galena Balloon Race are two excellent festivals to schedule your weekend escape around. Galena, located along the Mississippi River and roughly three hours west of Chicago, is the definition of charm. For your winter weekend vacation, a ski resort is close by and there are some fantastic treks here as well.

Starved Rock State Park

Starved Rock State Park, which is close to the town of Oglesby, is one of the most breathtaking natural attractions in the state of Illinois. If you need a break from the bustling city of Chicago or the farmlands that make up the majority of the state, this is a great weekend vacation. There are several chances for outdoor activities nearby, including waterfalls, hiking trails, canyons, and rock formations. You may spend your weekend completely immersed in nature by staying in the lodge or setting up a tent in the park.

Arthur

The Amish settlement of Arthur, a tiny town in east-central Illinois famous for its unique horse and buggies, is another Illinois weekend excursion worth mentioning. Come here if you want to appreciate a simpler period and a slower pace of life. In the area surrounding Arthur, there are several Amish-run stores that offer quilts, jams, cupboards, and much more. Additionally, if you go in the fall, you have to go to the Great Pumpkin Patch, one of the top pumpkin patches in the Midwest. Take a buggy ride, partake in a home-cooked Amish lunch at Yoder's Country Kitchen, and attend a small-town celebration like the Cheese Festival or the 4th of July, which is becoming more and more popular.

Geneva

Geneva is a charming city in the western suburbs of Chicago that you should visit for a weekend break. From the city, you may drive or take the train in less than an hour to get there. Geneva is well located for riverside dining and drinking as it is situated along the Fox River. Come here if you want a charming atmosphere, tranquil parks, wildlife preserves, tree-lined streets, and a pleasant retail area in a traditional town. An excellent venue to get a drink, go on a tour, and sample spirits are the Fox River Distilling Company.

Shawnee National Forest

Explore the outdoors via hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and backpacking in southern Illinois. Between the Ohio and Mississippi rivers is a wooded area with lakes, hills, and forests to explore. Sandstone cliffs and rock formations make up the famed Garden of the Gods area in this area. The River to River Trail and the Rim Rock National Recreation Trail are two well-liked paths near Jackson Falls, which is a fantastic location for rock climbing.

The 3 Best Fourth of July Fireworks Shows Near Brookdale in the Park

America the Beautiful

As blankets are spread out on the grass and picnic baskets are filled to the brim with food, the air swirls. Beer gardens pour from flowing kegs while drinks are retrieved from ice-cold coolers, making splashes of ice and water.
As children play in parks and on playgrounds, the noises of games, rides, and booths reverberate. As the sun sets over Springbrook Prairie Nature Preserve, the crack of the bat can be heard from the baseball grounds. and then…

Over the park, the night sky suddenly comes to life, illuminating the already starry night with hues of red, white, and blue.
As blazing glitter blankets the horizon, creating a dazzling aura of light against the background, "Ohs" and "Ahs" can be heard from the grass. People are watching with big grins as energy vibrates and eyes are directed upward.
One of our favorite American holidays and activities is taking place right now –

Fourth of July Fireworks!

To make sure you have an amazing time this Independence Day, Brookdale on the Park is offering you the best fireworks displays close to Naperville, Illinois.
You may find the links to the best fireworks shows in our region below, so get out your lawn chair and settle down or stand and cheer:

  1. The Naperville Salute

Local bands, food, drink, and an amazing fireworks display are all available during The Naperville Salute, which takes place right here in Naperville. The festival spans the Riverwalk and Downtown Naperville and is centered on Veterans, First Responders, Active Military, and their families. The Salute event tickets cost $15, while the Sunday fireworks are free.

The Batavia fireworks display will happen this year. The Batavia Community Band and isis will perform live during the July 4th fireworks display in Engstrom Park (326 Millview Drive). Before the performance, relax along the Fox River or get a beverage at Energy City Brewing.

  1. Dupage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton

At Graf Park, Wheaton will have its yearly fireworks display on July 3. (1855 Manchester Rd). A DJ, food stalls, lawn activities, and giveaways are all planned for the evening. Is the first thing on your list of apartment needs "must allow pets"? Although it wasn't always simple to find pet-friendly housing in the past, more and more rental communities are now allowing pets. Living in an apartment requires some sacrifices, but if you follow these four guidelines, it can be a highly rewarding experience for both you and your cat.

Read Your Lease Carefully

As a pet owner, your lease spells out exactly what you may anticipate. In most circumstances, you'll have to pay a larger deposit and monthly rent than other tenants. If you have a pet, your lease may specify particular requirements that you must observe. You might be expected to clean up after your dog and keep birds and reptiles in cages, for example. Your lease may also specify the number of dogs allowed, as well as any breed or weight limits.

Where to Go Potty Plans

When looking at apartment possibilities, pet waste disposal may seem little, but it can have a huge impact on your quality of life. When you have to slog up and down the steps for toilet excursions, the third-floor walk-up could seem like a fantastic option. When you have a pet, having easy access to the outdoors is always a plus. Although a first-floor apartment may be best, if you reside in a building with elevators, higher levels can be a decent option.

Many apartment complexes provide pet-only restroom spots. Allowing your pet to fertilize the shrubs or lawn will not endear you to your neighbors or landlord. It's a good idea to collect a couple of plastic bags before you start your stroll because you never know when your dog will need to go potty. Cleaning up after your dog might get you a bad neighbor tag or, worse, a fine.

If you have a cat, be sure the bathroom in your apartment can fit a litter pan. Scoop at least once a day to keep odor under control. Hooded litter boxes can help reduce odor and keep litter contained, but not all cats are fond of them. If your pet doesn't like the hooded box, he or she may have to eliminate the outside of it.
Remove all litter and wash the box with mild soap and water once a week, regardless of the type of box you use, to avoid leftover odors. To keep odors at bay, bird cages, rabbit cages, gerbil cages, hamster cages, and guinea pig cages all require weekly cleaning.

Think About Your Pet’s Needs When Apartment Shopping

When you live with a pet, the size of your apartment is important. Your pet may feel frustrated and bored as a result of the cramped conditions. Unfortunately, your pet is unable to communicate with you and may resort to chewing the carpeting or scratching the walls to express its dissatisfaction.
When touring apartments, pay close attention to the floor plan. Your pets will have plenty of areas to explore and play in apartments with clear walkways between rooms and huge room sizes. It's also crucial to consider your pet's activity level, as high-energy canines may struggle to adapt to living in confined confines. If you have a high-energy dog and aren't home during the day, hiring a dog walker or enrolling your pet in doggy daycare may be a good option.

Consider Exercise Options Around the Apartment

Exercising your dog keeps him in shape and helps him burn off surplus energy. Unfortunately, if your apartment complex lacks adequate space for running or playing, you may find yourself spending more time commuting to nearby parks than you intended. Some rental communities provide on-site dog parks, which allow your dog to get some exercise while also allowing you to get to know your pet-loving neighbors.
Pets are welcome here at Brookdale on the Park, with few restrictions and a convenient on-site grass areas. Kitchens and baths, private balconies, walk-in closets, and other amenities are included in the apartments.
